The technology is rather similar to Print and Cut but now you can place an image on a special mat with marking, take a picture of the design and mat with your smartphone and then upload the image to the Studio designer software and then cut through your machine. To let you use thicker material, the Silhouette Portrait 2 has a brand new 2mm clearance, so now you can play with other thicker materials like craft foam or leather. For much thicker material, you will need to purchase another blade called the Deep Cut blade.

This wireless connectivity will free you from dealing with cable and now you can operate the machine from anywhere near. Cameo 3 is boasting its double carriages similar to those you can find in Cricut Explore Air. In single carriage machines, you will have to deal with install and uninstall the blade or pen when moving from drawing and cutting, so you have to stop the machine first. The biggest benefit of dual carriages is now you don’t have to deal with the same thing anymore for it can handle two tools as once, so logically speaking, it will increase your workflow.
Another popular feature is the Print and Cut capability. The feature will let the Studio software to send images to your printer to be printed and this images is not just regular images but contains registration marks in the corners which when loaded into your Cameo 3 machine will be recognized and cutted following the pattern. PixScan technology also available here, so now instead of printing your image, you can just take the design on top of the mat and send it to the software and then cut them in your machine.
The vinyl cutting machine is coming with AutoBlade which the company’s newer blade that will adjust itself depending on the material used. This blade is good to deal with unfamiliar material or when you don’t know the correct adjustment yet. The machine is also suitable with both standard and deep cut blade. With 2mm clearance, it can cut thicker material but with only 210 grams cutting force, it still can’t deal with balsa wood or thin sheet metal.
